Owning What Makes You Different
Do you ever hold back on telling people how you actually experience the world?
Maybe you catch shadows out of the corner of your eye and know they aren’t human. Maybe you hear the quiet voice of your guides. Maybe you’ve helped a spirit cross over and never told a soul.
To you, none of it feels strange. It feels like the most natural thing in the world. You love this part of yourself.
The hard part is explaining it to anyone else. I know, because every time I tried, it felt like standing up and saying, “Hi, my name is Sophia, and I talk to spirits. Let me tell you more.”
So most of us just don’t say anything.
Before we go any further, let’s clear something up. This has nothing to do with crystal balls, smoky back rooms, or a fortune teller in a headscarf. That’s Hollywood. What you have is quieter and a lot more real.
What It Really Means to Be Intuitive
So what does it mean to be psychic, intuitive, or a medium? At its heart, it means you’re an interpreter. You’re listening to spirit in a language beyond words, and translating it into something you and the people you help can understand.
Think of it like traveling to a country where you don’t speak the language. At first you catch a word here and there. You learn the signs, the gestures, the rhythm of how people talk. Then one day you realize you’re following the whole conversation without even trying.
Working with spirit is the same.
Intuition Is More Common Than You Think
This “sixth sense” is not rare. Inspiration itself is a form of mediumship. Writers, artists, doctors, and healers often follow inner nudges that guide their work.
The difference is, some of us choose to speak of it more openly. We are the intuitives, the channelers, the psychics you read about, the ones who have simply chosen to practice and refine this gift until it becomes a way of serving others.
Like any skill, it takes time and devotion. Just as one nurse might stop at a certificate while another continues to advanced training, mediums spend years listening, acting, and developing their abilities.
The Role of Spirit Guides
For me, the way through has always been my spirit guides. They’re who I lean on in every session.
When I sit with someone, I invite their guides and mine to step forward. Together, we ask for direction, healing, and truth. What comes through is almost always simpler and clearer than anything we could have figured out on our own.
I came to this work with a foot in both worlds. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in counseling, and I’ve spent years in the corporate world, in mental health, and in intuitive practice.
That mix matters. It means I can tell the difference between what’s clinical and what’s spiritual, and help people with both.
At its core, this work takes courage. It asks you to trust what you can’t always explain. To follow a knowing that doesn’t live in textbooks or in your five senses.
And deep down, you already recognize it. You’ve felt it your whole life.
Here’s what I know after all these years. We all need to know we’re loved, that we’re guided, and that our lives mean something. Spirit gives us that, and helping people hear it is why I’m here.
So if you’ve spent years keeping quiet at the party, nodding along, passing the dip and saying nothing, I want you to hear this. You were made this way on purpose.
